Le Centre national de la recherche scientifique est un organisme public de recherche (Etablissement public à caractère scientifique et technologique, placé sous la tutelle du Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche). Il produit du savoir et met ce savoir au service de la société.
Sa gouvernance est assurée par Alain Fuchs, président du CNRS, assisté de deux directeurs généraux délégués, Joël Bertrand à la science et Xavier Inglebert aux ressources.
Avec plus de 34 000 personnes (dont 25 630 statutaires - 11 450 chercheurs et 14 180 ingénieurs, techniciens et administratifs), un budget primitif pour 2011 de 3,204 milliards d'euros dont 677 millions d'euros de ressources propres, une implantation sur l'ensemble du territoire national, le CNRS exerce son activité dans tous les champs de la connaissance, en s'appuyant sur plus de 1100 unités de recherche et de service.
Paris Institute of Earth Physics
The Institute of Earth Physics of Paris is a research and educational institution.
Its mission is to achieve research and provide education in the fields of geosciences but the institute is also in charge of monitoring the natural phenomena. The institute conducts research in all the fields of studies of the solid Earth (geophysics, geochemistry, and quantitative geology) by combining observations on land and at sea, from laboratory analysis to the construction of conceptual, analogical and numerical models.
Current developments direct towards new and promising fields such as terrestrial materials under extreme conditions, the primitive Earth and its first billion years, the interfaces between solid ground and fluid envelopes, the interactions between Earth and life sciences.

Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou
For decades, after the painstaking efforts and innovation of several generations of scientific researchers, CAREERI created and developed its research activities in the major fields which has the distinct subject characteristics, such as glaciology, geochryology, desert and desertification research, plateau atmospheric science, thunderstorms electrics and thunder lightning physics, hydrology and water resource as well as restoration ecology in cold and arid areas. And the institute has formed its special advanced subject in research fields of mountain glacier and ice core, cold regions environment, global change, frozen soil physicochemical properties and underground ice theory, frozen soil engineering and environmental, formation and evolution of desert and environment change, wind borne sand physics and topography, desertification progress and engineering of combating the sand, hydrology and water resources in cold and arid regions, ecological environment construction in arid regions, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau meteorology, climate formation mechanism of the plateau and the arid region, physics in boundary layer, atmospheric electricity, and the sustainable development of the resources in cold and arid regions.
Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang
Since its founding in 1966, Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGCAS) has achieved many major scientific discoveries and breakthroughs in geology and geochemistry. Our scientists have won the prestigious first and second prizes in Chinese State Natural Science Awards, and have trained a large number of high-level talents. The institute has been instrumental in establishing and developing the discipline of geochemistry, while contributing significantly to the national economy and the growth of Earth sciences. Currently, IGCAS mainly conducts fundamental, strategic and innovative research in ore deposit geochemistry, environmental geochemistry, high temperature/pressure experimental geochemistry and cosmochemistry. Correspondingly, IGCAS has set up the State Key Laboratory of Ore Deposit Geochemistry, the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Geochemistry, the Laboratory for High Temperature and High Pressure Study of the Earth's Interior, and the Lunar and Planetary Science Research Center, all of which are equipped with advanced equipment and facilities.

Xinjiang Institute for Ecology and Geography
The Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was established on July 7,1998 by the merging of two previously existing institutes of the CAS, namely the Xinjiang Institute of Geography (IOG, established in 1961) and the Xinjiang Institute of Biology, Pedology and Desert Research (XIBPDR, established in 1965). Focusing on the strategic objectives of the western development and under the guidance of the strategic thinking of creating innovative base by the CAS, the XIEG implements the strategies of resource development & utilization, ecological security and sustainable development in arid areas to carry out prospective, strategic and basic researches on "Oasis System Evolution and Oasis Ecological Agriculture", "Restoration of Fragile and Damaged Ecosystem and Prevention of Desertification", "Development and Utilization of Resources and Regional Sustainable Development", "Conservation and Utilization of Special Biodiversity", and "Resources and Environmental Monitoring and Decision-making in Arid Areas". During the third period of knowledge innovation, the XIEG is dedicated towards bringing regional cooperation in science and technology and the scientific level in Central Asia to a new height and strives to build an internationally well-known distinctive research institute in the research field of resources and environment in arid areas.
Tianjin Normal University
Tianjin Normal University (TNU), founded in 1958, was originally named Tianjin Teachers College and given the present name in June 1982. In April 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Tianjin Municipal Committee of the CPC and Tianjin Municipal Government decided to found the new Tianjin Normal University by integrating the old Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Teachers' Training Academy, and Tianjin Educational Institute. Approaved by Tianjin Municipal Government in Mar. 2003, the construction project of the new campus of TNU was officially initiated. The new campus covers an area of 3,690 mu, with an overall planning area of 680,000 square meters. The first phase of the project which consists of a building area of 350,000 square meters is now finished and put to use. TNU now has 23 colleges, 1 independent college, 49 research institutes, and 87 specialties for undergraduates (including 56 specialties for 4-year students and 31 for 2-year students). Offering programs at various levels and in many disciplines, the university has developed a unique system of education, with a series of pre- and in – service training courses and different levels of education for different purposes: for academic degrees, for diplomas or simply for training.
